dance contest

Hey guys! You may have seen my YouTube video "Dance Challenge", and if you didn't, you can go to my YouTube account (or look at the video bar) to see it. I tried to upload it here, but it didn't work. So here's the info.

I started a dance contest, where you download a song from my website and choreograph a 30-60 second dance to it. It must be all your own choreography, and it must all be choreographed. NO IMPROVISATION!! If you do improvise, I will suspect it (I can tell the difference when something has been made up on the spot) and ask you to re-record. There are also some technical requirements. 1) There must be a turn, like a pirouette. 2) In your dance, you must include two kicks at a minimum. 3) There must be at least one leap. I will devise my own scoring system, and each technical requirement will be worth a certain amount of points. THE SCORING SYSTEM WILL BE BASED ON THE FIRST THREE ENTRIES. Once you have recorded your dance, please post it as a video response to "Dance Challenge". To make it fair, the video responses will not appear on the video until the closing date of the contest. Also, I will not give out the usernames of the contest participants until the closing date. I will also be posting a choreography policy.

I will need at least five entries for the contest, and you may only enter once. The entries are due March 20, 2008.

Hey guys I'm so sorry I haven't posted in like a month!! It's just that I've been really busy with dance and school. So, if you clicked on this link from my YouTube, you probably saw my channel title. I AM NOT TELLING HER NAME!!! I don't care if you know me from dance, from school, or if you only know me online, I will NOT tell. Period. Yeah.

So, there's this team at my studio that I really want to make, and auditions are only a few short months away. It's the next level up from the team I'm on now, and I REEEAAALLLLYYY want to make it. But, I don't think I will make it. Here are some reasons: 1) I am currently in 6th grade, and you normally don't make this team until 8th, but some really good 7th graders make it 2) there are a TON of other people who could probably make this team, and 3) there is already a boy who made this team in 7th grade, so he will definitely be on it again and I don't think they are going to put two boys on one team. But there's a lot of people who think I'm good enough and that I will make this team. I don't know all of the technical requirements, but I know of a few. Here they are:

-four a la secondes

-triple pirouettes

-moderate flexibility, so that your kicks look good

-turning leaps/capezios

-basic technique (pointed toes, straight knees, etc.)

I'm sure there's more, I just can't think of it right now. Please comment, and tell me what YOU think!!
